BASF Walltite is a medium density, closed cell, environmentally friendly spray foam insulation product that is made from recycled plastic and renewable bio-materials including soy oil, corn oil, castor oil and sugar. BASF Walltite is made, in part, from Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) which is a common material used to make water bottles, packaging and containers – three of the most harmful and often wasted products in our world. Through and through BASF Walltite is an environmentally responsible product. It is not enough to simply “be green” anymore, we must make a continued effort to recycle our waste and improve our living conditions through renewable and sustainable means.
When it comes to installation of BASF Walltite, there is no need to worry about the impact it will have on the aesthetic goal of your project, new build or renovation alike. In fact, because BASF Walltite is a spray-applied system, there are virtually no limits to what you can do with the product. Whether you are installing it in a dome-shaped room, an attic, throughout multiple stories or any other oddly shaped space, the product adapts and holds true to form over time. There are no limits to the design capabilities of BASF Walltite. You are free to be as creative as possible.
In some areas the building code may require spray foam insulation to be covered by an approved thermal barrier. This includes all types of foam insulation. In many cases spray foam is covered by 1/2 inch drywall so no added measures are required. In the case where drywall will not be used EcoComfort Spray Foam offers DC315, a intumescent coating for spray foam. While EcoComfort Spray Foam installs exclusively BASF Walltite spray foam we can install thermal barrier over any existing spray foam or other foam insulation requiring protection. We invite you to call us today for detailed pricing and further information about where thermal barriers are required and what we can do to help.
BASF Walltite combines superior insulation performance with an industry- leading air leakage rating. As a spray-applied, seamless system requiring no fasteners, BASF Walltite does not lose insulating performance to thermal bridging or convection looping. By maximizing the performance of the building envelope, BASF Walltite allows HVAC systems to operate more efficiently. In many cases, mechanical equipment can be downsized at the design phase of the project.
BASF Walltite has the ability to last the life of the building and withstand positive and negative wind pressures without displacement. By virtually eliminating uncontrolled air leakage, the BASF Walltite insulating air barrier system helps control vapour movement, reducing the risk of condensation, mold, moisture, ice damming, spalling and premature deterioration of building materials. In addition, testing conducted by the CCMC1 and the United States National Association of Homebuilders2 (NAHB) showed that closed-cell, spray-applied polyurethane foam insulation systems like BASF Walltite actually increase structural strength. When applied between wood and steel stud wall panels onto gypsum board and vinyl siding, closed-cell foam increased rack and shear two to three times. It also increased racking strength 50% when sprayed on oriented strandboard (OSB).
BASF Walltite makes significant contributions to healthy, comfortable indoor environments by creating a draft-free, airtight building envelope that prevents the infiltration of pollutants, toxins and allergens. It also helps to prevent the growth of mold and fungi by controlling the movement of moisture and vapour through the building envelope and helping to eliminate condensing surfaces. BASF Walltite also meets the stringent requirements of the GREENGUARD Certification ProgramSM and GREENGUARD Children & SchoolsSM certification, thus ensuring optimal occupant comfort and safety.
